Baseball Recap: East River Comes Up Short

After flying high against Orangewood Christian last Thursday, East River came back down to earth. The Falcons fell just short of the University Titans by a score of 5-4 on Saturday. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Chance Griffin was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ty Kennedy made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.

East River's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for University, the victory got them back to even at 10-10-2.

Coming up, East River will welcome Montverde Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for University, they will challenge Trinity Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Titans surely won't give up without a fight.
