Hayley Brewer was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Baya Bromley was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Makenzie Luna was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Adamsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Covington was not the first on the board last Monday, but they got there more often. They put the hurt on Gibson County with a sharp 7-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chargers.
Like Adamsville, Covington also got a great game from a two-way player: Kinslee Hamm. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Hamm was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madi Hamm, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Caroline Cole, who went 3-for-4 with one triple and one double.
Adamsville's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Covington, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Adamsville's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's match. Adamsville has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Covington, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Adamsville continue to outrun the ball?
Adamsville took their victory against Covington when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 10-3. Will Adamsville repeat their success, or does Covington have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
