Basketball Recap: Brookwood Takes a Loss

Brookwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 60-42 bruising from the De Soto Pirates. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

De Soto found their leader in sophomore Kylee Venner, who almost dropped a double-double on 30 points and nine boards. Venner is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Sylvia Krueger was another key player, putting up eight points and 14 boards.

Brookwood's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for De Soto, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brookwood will square off against Bangor at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bangor will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Brookwood surely won't give up without a fight. De Soto has already played their next game (against North Crawford), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
