Softball Recap: Wahconah Regional Takes a Loss

Wahconah Regional dropped their record down to 6-8 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Taconic Thunder by a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Thunder this season, with their most recent loss being a 7-3 defeat two weeks ago.

As for Taconic, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games.

For Taconic's part, Cheyann Goddard made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Goddard was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Goddard wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Abby Sotto, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

As of now, neither Wahconah Regional nor Taconic have any future games scheduled.
