Baseball Recap: Stebbins Indians vs. Tippecanoe Red Devils
Stebbins had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 6-8 to make it five. They lost 8-0 to the Tippecanoe Red Devils. If the Indians were looking for revenge after losing 14-0 to the Red Devils when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Tippecanoe, the win keeps they at an undefeated 16-0. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average this season.
For Tippecanoe's part, Carter Chinn tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Chinn has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Brady Liskey and Preston Zumwalt did most of the damage at the plate: Liskey got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Zumwalt got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Zumwalt has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Bryce Eckert was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Looking ahead, Stebbins will square off against Franklin Monroe at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Tippecanoe, they will challenge Bethel at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The Red Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bees have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
