Basketball Recap: Omaha Northwest Takes a Loss

Omaha Northwest played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Omaha Central Eagles 85-49. The loss continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost eight in a row.

Defeat or not, Omaha Northwest got some senior leadership from Abriya Watkins and Jessica Houston. Watkins went 8 of 16 to rack up 20 points and seven rebounds, while Houston posted 15 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Houston's morning made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points.

Noelle Tcheuhchoua continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Omaha Central, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Tcheuhchoua has scored at least a third of Omaha Central's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Justine Tcheuhchoua, who went 6 for 12 en route to 16 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Omaha Northwest's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Omaha Central, the win got them back to even at 10-10.

Omaha Northwest has already played their next game, a 58-49 victory against Fremont on the 8th. As for Omaha Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bellevue East at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bellevue East will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Omaha Central surely won't give up without a fight.
