Basketball Recap: Red Mountain Wins Going Away Against Pima

Red Mountain picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They greeted the New Year with with a 51-33 win over the Pima Roughriders. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mountain Lions.

Payton Westra continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6 of 9 en route to 15 points and eight rebounds. She has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Henderson, who posted ten points.

Red Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

When it comes to explaining why Pima lost, don't look at Sadie Richardson. Despite the final result, she had seven points along with eight boards and three steals. Kelsi Brimhall was another key player, putting up seven points and five steals.

Red Mountain has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Pima, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.

Red Mountain will take on West Point at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Red Mountain is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season. As for Pima, they will square off against Scottsdale Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pima also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 52.1 points per game.
