Corning takes loss despite strong efforts from Jeff Mendros and Kaidan Raker

Recap: Corning Cardinals vs. Colusa RedHawks

After a string of five wins, the Corning Cardinals's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a hard 59-43 fall against Colusa. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Corning in their matchups with Colusa: they've now lost three in a row.

Corning's loss came despite strong showings from Kaidan Raker and Jeff Mendros. Raker scored nine points, while Mendros scored 14 points. James Faris was another key contributor, scoring two points.

Colusa got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Landon Humphrey out in front who scored 17 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Humphrey has scored at least 25% of Colusa's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Travis, who scored six points along with ten rebounds.

Corning's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Colusa, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3.

Corning won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Gridley at 4:30 p.m. on December 16th. Gridley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Corning in California (Gridley is ranked 256th, while Corning is ranked 636th). Colusa won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Sutter at 7:30 p.m. on December 16th.
