Football Game Preview: Marshall Barristers vs. Franklin Panthers

Marshall is 1-9 against Franklin since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Barristers will be playing at home against the Panthers at 3:00 p.m.

Marshall had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least 31 points, but Eagle Rock put an end to it on Friday. The Barristers took a blow against the Eagles, falling 41-7. The matchup marked the Barristers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Marshall's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Wesley Mejia, who picked up 119 receiving yards and one TD, and Nathaniel Cadet, who threw for 125 yards and one touchdown. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 68 yards.

Meanwhile, Franklin didn't have too much trouble with Wilson on Friday as they won 21-2. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Mules: they've now won seven in a row.

Franklin's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Marshall, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Marshall took a serious blow against Franklin in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 48-7. Thankfully for the Barristers, Eduardo Cuevas (who threw for 309 yards and five TDs while completing 84% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
