The Whitehall Zephyrs will challenge the Parkland Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Whitehall's victory against Wyoming Valley West wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Whitehall sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over Wyoming Valley West on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Zephyrs in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won four in a row.
Nik Christman looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Whitehall let Seth Hoderewski and Tyler Reichenbach run wild. Hoderewski scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Reichenbach scored a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, Hoderewski posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Sanders, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Parkland made sure to put some runs up on the board against Quakertown on Friday. Parkland put the hurt on Quakertown with a sharp 17-1 win.
Chase Brunner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Will Dobil was a standout: he scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Peyton Scherff was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Parkland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Quakertown only posted an OBP of .250.
Parkland now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Whitehall, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.
Whitehall's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. Whitehall has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Parkland, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Whitehall continue to outrun the ball?
Whitehall beat Parkland 7-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Whitehall repeat their success, or does Parkland has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
