Baseball Recap: Erath Comes Up Short

Erath was the 5-0 winner over North Vermilion when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Erath Bobcats took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the North Vermilion Patriots on Friday. The Bobcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Erath saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Champagne, who went 2-for-3 with one double. The dominant performance also gave Champagne a new career-high in hits (two). Landen Derouen also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Erath's loss dropped their record down to 3-2-1. As for North Vermilion, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: North Vermilion beat Erath by a score of 7-1 on Saturday.
