Baseball Recap: Clarion Area Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Clarion Area entered their tilt with Moniteau on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Warriors. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Derek Smail made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Smail was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Ethan Rex was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Noah Harrison was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Clarion Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Clarion Area's record now sits at 9-3. As for Moniteau, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-6 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clarion Area will face off against Mercer at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Bobcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Moniteau, they will square off against Punxsutawney at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
