Recap: Mercy Culture Prep Royals vs. Ovilla Christian Eagles
After a string of four wins, the Mercy Culture Prep Royals's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell to Ovilla Christian 40-34. Mercy Culture Prep has not had much luck with Ovilla Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Sophie Henry continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ovilla Christian, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 21 rebounds. That makes it 14 consecutive games in which Henry has scored at least 25% of Ovilla Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoey Hensley, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Mercy Culture Prep's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Ovilla Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Mercy Culture Prep will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Nazarene Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Ovilla Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Bethesda Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. Bethesda Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 17 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
