Volleyball Recap: Brandeis Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Adalin Gutierrez and Elayna G

Brandeis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Gregory-Portland Wildcats.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Brandeis sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 15-25, 25-21.

Brandeis' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Elayna G, who had 16 assists and 14 digs, and Adalin Gutierrez, who had 15 digs and eight assists. Gutierrez is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Brandeis' defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Gregory-Portland, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.

Brandeis wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Franklin on the 23rd. As for Gregory-Portland, they have also already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Dripping Springs on the 22nd.
