Baseball Game Preview: Wickenburg Christian Academy Lion vs. Ajo Red Raiders

The Wickenburg Christian Academy Lion will square off against the Ajo Red Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Ajo will be up against a hot Wickenburg Christian Academy team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Lion blew past Flagstaff Christian 16-5 on Monday. That's two games straight that the Lion have won by exactly 11 runs.

Matt Sheehan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Sheehan was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ross Egan was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Aziel Flores was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Wickenburg Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. They are undefeated (8-0) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Ajo came into Tuesday's match having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by an 18-8 margin over New Way Learning Academy on Tuesday.

Ajo's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Wickenburg Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2-1.
