Basketball Game Preview: Wayne Badgers vs. Escalante Moquis

Wayne has gone 10-0 against Escalante recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Wayne Badgers will look to defend their home court against the Escalante Moquis at 6:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Wayne's favor as the squad sits on nine straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Escalante has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Last Thursday, Wayne got the win against Bryce Valley by a conclusive 60-36. The Badgers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 23 points or more this season.

Wayne found their leader in sophomore AJ VanDyke, who posted 17 points and five rebounds. VanDyke's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Raegyn Blackburn, who scored eight points and four steals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Escalante). They took down El Capitan 56-37 on Friday.

Wayne is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Escalante, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Wayne took their victory against Escalante when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 71-45. Will Wayne repeat their success, or does Escalante have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
