Football Game Preview: Mission Viejo Diablos vs. Los Alamitos Griffins

The Mission Viejo Diablos are taking a road trip to challenge the Los Alamitos Griffins at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mission Viejo knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Los Alamitos likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Mission Viejo didn't have too much trouble with Edison as they won 37-20. The Diablos pushed the score to 30-6 by the end of the third, a deficit the Chargers cut but never quite recovered from.

A big part of Mission Viejo's win came down to the chemistry between Luke Fahey and his top target Jack Junker. Fahey threw for 374 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt while Junker gained 189 total yards and three touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Junker a new career-high in receiving yards (181). KJ Woodbury JR also helped out as he racked up 168 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 41 points the game before, Los Alamitos was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They took a hard 28-9 fall against San Clemente. The matchup marked the Griffins' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Mission Viejo's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Los Alamitos, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 8-1.

Mission Viejo took their win against Los Alamitos in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 40-14 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Diablos since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
