Football Game Preview: Latta Vikings vs. Bamberg-Ehrhardt Red Raiders

The Latta Vikings will venture away from home to square off against the Bamberg-Ehrhardt Red Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Latta is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Baptist Hill as they made off with a 34-14 win. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Vikings considering their eight-point performance the game before.

Meanwhile, Bamberg-Ehrhardt put their dominant defense on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand St. John's a 65-0 shutout. Given the Red Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Islanders are ranked 240th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Latta better keep an eye on Marcus Cann Jr.. He was instrumental in Bamberg-Ehrhardt's win, rushing for 55 yards and one score.

Latta pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.0 points over those games. As for Bamberg-Ehrhardt, their victory bumped their record up to 11-0.

Latta was taken down by Bamberg-Ehrhardt 42-12 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Vikings were down 28-0.
