Softball Recap: Rocklin Has No Trouble Against Davis Sr.

Rocklin got themselves on the board against Davis Sr. on Wednesday, but Davis Sr. never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Blue Devils with a sharp 9-0 win. Considering the Thunder have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Payton Prior was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Rocklin let Katie Wetteland and Savannah Lorenzini run wild. Wetteland went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs, while Lorenzini went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Abi Brown was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

Rocklin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Davis Sr. only managed one hit.

Rocklin's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Davis Sr., they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-6.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Rocklin is set to challenge their familiar foe Whitney at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Thunder 1.5, the Wildcats 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Davis Sr. will take on rival St. Francis at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
