Volleyball Recap: West Field Takes a Loss

The West Field Longhorns came up short against the Morgan Trojans on Thursday and fell 3-1.

The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-17, 20-25, 25-17.

West Field's offense was headlined by Owen Orrock and Coulter Shakespear, who picked up six kills apiece. They got some help from Josh Metcalf and his 22 assists. Hayden Pontius and Lucas Chugg kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Morgan was led to victory by Caleb Stephens and Ryker Field. Stephens had eight digs, two blocks, and two aces, while Field had 12 digs. Stephens is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 18 or more in each of the last seven games he's played.

West Field's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Morgan, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 8-4 record.

West Field has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Bear River on the 28th. After both having extra time off, Morgan and Ben Lomond will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on the 8th.
