Softball Recap: Inspiration Academy Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Inspiration Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Lake Wales on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Highlanders by a score of 2-1. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Highlanders earlier this season, when they won 5-0.

Elle Hildreth spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

Inspiration Academy's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-6. As for Lake Wales, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Inspiration Academy will welcome Palmetto at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lake Wales, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Lake Region at 7:00 p.m.
