Softball Recap: Holmes Comes Up Short

If Holmes was feeling good fresh off their 16-1 takedown of Newport last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs came up short against the Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds on Wednesday, falling 15-5. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Thoroughbreds: they've now lost eight in a row.

Holmes' defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Newport Central Catholic, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-4.

Looking ahead, Holmes will head out on the road to take on Williamstown at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Newport Central Catholic, they will challenge St. Henry at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Thoroughbreds are facing the Crusaders at the right time seeing as the Crusaders are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
