Basketball Recap: Santa Ana Valley Takes a Loss

Santa Ana Valley was the 39-31 winner over Avalon when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Santa Ana Valley Falcons lost to the Avalon Lancers on the road by a 56-39 margin on Saturday.

Avalon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacob Mello, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Erick Madriz was another key player, putting up 14 points and three steals.

Santa Ana Valley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Avalon, they moved to 1-11 with that win, which also ended their 12-game losing streak.

Santa Ana Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 78-52 loss against Western on the 7th. As for Avalon, they will welcome Southlands Christian on Friday. Avalon is facing Southlands Christian at the right time seeing as Southlands Christian is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
