Baseball Game Preview: Orono Riots vs. Foxcroft Academy Ponies

Orono hasn't had much luck against Foxcroft Academy recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Riots will square off against the Ponies at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Orono took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They blew past George Stevens Academy 14-4. Considering the Riots have won four contests by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Calum Bryant was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Orono is 2-1 when Bryant allows one or fewer hits, but 3-4 otherwise. Bryant was also big at the plate, earning one run and two stolen bases.

In other batting news, Logan Williams was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Noah Schaff, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Foxcroft Academy got the win against Dexter on Wednesday by a conclusive 10-2. That eight run margin sets a new team best for the Ponies this season.

The win got Orono back to even at 5-5. As for Foxcroft Academy, their record now sits at 6-2.

Orono couldn't quite finish off Foxcroft Academy when the teams last played back in April and fell 14-12. Can the Riots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
