Suggested Video

Blair hasn't had much luck against Gretna recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Blair Bears will challenge the Gretna Dragons at 6:15 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Blair sitting on five straight wins and Gretna on 29.

On Monday, Blair made easy work of Standing Bear and carried off an 11-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won 14 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Taytum Macholan spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Blair got a big performance out of Mia McClain, who scored two runs while going 4-for-5. What's more, McClain also posted a .800 OBP, which is the highestshe's posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Laynie Brown, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Blair kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now hit at least ten hits in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Gretna won against Waverly on Thursday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. Gretna never let Lincoln Northwest onto the board and left with a 10-0 win. Considering the Dragons have won 26 matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Blair has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 24-6 record this season. As for Gretna, they pushed their record up to 29-0 with the victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Blair might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Gretna in their previous matchup back in September. Can Blair avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
