Football Game Preview: Centreville Wildcats vs. George C. Marshall Statesmen + How To Watch

The Centreville Wildcats will take on the George C. Marshall Statesmen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Centreville's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

If Centreville beats George C. Marshall with 49 points on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Wildcats claimed a resounding 49-21 victory over Oakton. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Wildcats' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Cougars are ranked 164th).

Cardin Stover was his usual excellent self, rushing for 200 yards and three scores while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 59 yards. Will Shields also helped with three TDs in total.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Centreville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 216 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of John Poythress, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, George C. Marshall made easy work of Herndon on Friday and carried off a 29-7 win. The Statesmen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 21 points or more this season.

Centreville pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.0 points over those games. As for George C. Marshall, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
