Baseball Game Preview: Alameda Pirates vs. Strasburg Indians

The Alameda Pirates will take on the Strasburg Indians at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Alameda has 15 straight victories, Strasburg has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Wednesday, Alameda was able to grind out a solid win over Montbello, taking the game 8-4.

The team relied heavily on Cesar H, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Junior Lopez was another key player, earning one run and five stolen bases.

Alameda was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in 15 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Strasburg lost 13-3 to Eaton on Friday.

Strasburg saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Welch, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Alameda's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Strasburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Alameda has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Strasburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
