Softball Game Preview: Coronado Cougars vs. Basic Wolves

The Coronado Cougars will face off against the Basic Wolves at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Coronado fell victim to Charter Oak and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Cougars were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Basic was not able to break out of their rough patch two weeks ago as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 15-2 to Arbor View.

Natalee Ramos made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season.

Coronado's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Basic, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Basic's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Coronado hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .408. It's a different story for Basic, though, as they've only averaged .216. Will they be able to contain Coronado's hitters?

Everything went Coronado's way against Basic in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, as Coronado made off with a 20-1 victory. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
