Softball Game Preview: Wilson Wildcats vs. Southlands Christian Eagles

Wilson is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Southlands Christian is on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Wilson will host Southlands Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Wilson didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Nogales by a score of 8-5 two weeks ago. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southlands Christian). They were the clear victors by a 26-1 margin over Bethel Christian on Friday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by 12 runs or more this season.

Daizia White made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Southlands Christian got a massive performance out of Emily Acosta, who went 3-for-6 with six RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those six RBI gave Acosta a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Analisa Guerrero, who scored five runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5.

Southlands Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Wilson's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Southlands Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
