Basketball Recap: Hardeeville Comes Up Short

Hardeeville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They were dealt a 68-6 defeat at the hands of the Denmark-Olar Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Canes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 279th, while the Vikings are ranked 38th).

Leading Denmark-Olar to victory were Amoria Wright and Zyria McMillian. Wright posted 17 points and eight steals, while McMillian put up 14 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Wright a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aveion Walker, who had six points in addition to ten boards and four steals.

Hardeeville's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Denmark-Olar, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.

Hardeeville will take on Ridgeland at 6:00 p.m. on February 14th. As for Denmark-Olar, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Ridgeland Secondary Academy Of Excellence at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Denmark-Olar will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
