Baseball Recap: Atrisco Heritage Academy's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Atrisco Heritage Academy came into Saturday's game having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Albuquerque Academy Chargers with a sharp 15-9 victory on Saturday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Jaguars' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Dillon Flores was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Giovanni Bottlijliso was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alan Palos, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Atrisco Heritage Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Atrisco Heritage Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Albuquerque Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Atrisco Heritage Academy will host West Mesa at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Albuquerque Academy, they will be playing at home against Del Norte at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
