Basketball Recap: Harper Young's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Grand Junction over Durango

Grand Junction was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 47-28 to the Durango Demons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Demons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-26 back in February.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Harper Young, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 15 rebounds. That's the most boards Young has posted since back in January of 2024. Ella Alderman was another key player, putting up four points.

Durango's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ellie White, who earned nine points and three steals. Annwyn Austin also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Grand Junction's loss dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Durango, they pushed their record up to 17-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Grand Junction didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-43 victory against Longmont on the 26th. As for Durango, they have also already played their next matchup, a 45-39 defeat against Fruita Monument on the 22nd.
