Softball Recap: Sultana Has No Trouble Against Hesperia

Sultana won the last time they faced Hesperia and things went their way on Thursday too. The Sultans put the hurt on the Scorpions with a sharp 13-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Sultans, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Isabel Avalos was a standout: she scored a run while going 2-for-2. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Camilla Casillas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Sultana always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hesperia only posted an OBP of .211.

The victory made it two in a row for Sultana and bumps their season record up to 13-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Hesperia, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12-1 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sultana will take on Apple Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sun Devils will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Sultans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hesperia, they will face off against Oak Hills at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Scorpions surely won't give up without a fight.
