Softball Recap: Pinecrest's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

Pinecrest's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 13-8 win over the Southern Lee Cavaliers. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Patriots' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Addisyn Stayskal made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Emily Hatcher was a standout: she scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Arianna Reddinger was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Pinecrest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern Lee only posted a batting average of .214.

Pinecrest's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-12. As for Southern Lee, they dropped their record down to 2-12 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Pinecrest will venture away from home to face off against Montgomery Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Timberwolves have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Southern Lee, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hoke County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
