Softball Recap: Duarte Comes Up Short

Duarte fell victim to Sierra Vista and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Dons by a score of 2-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-6 on March 11th.

Allison Michels spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Duarte is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9. As for Sierra Vista, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-6-1.

Coming up, Duarte will head out on the road to square off against Baldwin Park at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Braves have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season. As for Sierra Vista, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ramona Convent at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
