Volleyball Recap: Regents Lions vs. Tupelo Golden Wave
Regents managed to slip by Tupelo the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Lions came up short against the Golden Wave on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Wave apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.
While Regents was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Tupelo's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-17, 25-19.
Selah Meurrier paced Regents' offense, picking up five kills. Meurrier got some help from Maddie Niemeyer and her 11 assists. Meurrier also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Greer Smith, racking up two apiece.
Tupelo got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lily Shettles out in front who had six digs and two aces. That's the most aces Shettles has posted over her last seven matches.
Regents is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5. As for Tupelo, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
After both having extra time off, Regents and Columbus Christian Academy will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Tupelo, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Southaven on the 4th.
