Basketball Game Preview: Blair Vikings vs. La Canada Spartans

Blair hasn't had much luck against La Canada recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Having just played yesterday, the Blair Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the La Canada Spartans at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Blair's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 16 matchups.

On Sunday, Blair was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 80-75 to South Pasadena. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (74), the Vikings still had to take the loss.

Despite the defeat, Blair got top-tier performance from Timmy Anderson, who posted 40 points. Anderson's evening made it 30 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaleel Hunter, who had 13 points.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely La Canada's strategy against Monrovia on Friday. La Canada put the hurt on Monrovia with a sharp 63-43 victory. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

La Canada has also been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.9 points per game. As for Blair, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-7.

Blair came up short against La Canada when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 84-76. Can Blair avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
