Basketball Recap: Valley Christian Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Victory

Valley Christian had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.1 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Monday. They blew past the Rancho Solano Prep Mustangs, posting a 76-43 victory. The Trojans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mustangs, too.

Leading Valley Christian to victory were Carson Grier and Colby Jessup. Grier dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds, while Jessup went 8 for 14 on his way to 23 points and eight boards. Jessup's evening made it 14 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Paxton Tamlyn, who posted eight points.

Valley Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rancho Solano Prep only pulled down five offensive boards.

Luke Larrabee and Ryder Brainis certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Larrabee had 11 points, while Brainis put up nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Stokes, who earned five points.

Valley Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. As for Rancho Solano Prep, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-7.

Valley Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 90-65 win against Florence on the 23rd. Rancho Solano Prep has also already played their next contest, a 62-40 victory against Scottsdale Christian Academy on the 24th.
