Alamo Navajo scored the most points they've had this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 62-61 to the Mountainair Mustangs. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (58), the Cougars still had to take the loss.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mountainair to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amanda Hamilton, who posted 14 points and five boards. What's more, Hamilton posted three assists, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gabriella Knoten, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds.

Alamo Navajo has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points over those games. Mountainair pushed their record up to 10-18 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Alamo Navajo does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mountainair, they will head out to square off against Corona/Vaughn at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Corona/Vaughn will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Mountainair surely won't give up without a fight.
