Soccer Game Preview: Rock Springs vs. Riverton

The Rock Springs TIGERS will face off against the Riverton Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rock Springs has given up an average of 2.9 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Rock Springs is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Wyoming's top teams: Jackson Hole, who was ranked first at the time (Rock Springs was ranked sixth). The TIGERS lost 9-1 to the Broncs on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty eight goals in the game before, Rock Springs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, Riverton and Evanston combined for 18 shots on goal on Tuesday, which explains the impressive six total goals scored. Neither the Wolverines nor the Devils could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 3-3 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked Riverton's first draw of the season.

They hit Evanston with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Blake Gantenbein, Hunter Saltsgaver, and Gilby Roden.

Rock Springs has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season. With that draw, Riverton's record moves to 3-4-1.

Rock Springs took their victory against Riverton in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 6-1 score. Will the TIGERS repeat their success, or do the Wolverines have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
