Bellevue East takes loss despite strong efforts from Ammi Williams and Kris Brown

Recap: Bellevue East Chieftains vs. Fremont Tigers

The Bellevue East Chieftains lost a heartbreaker to the Fremont Tigers when they met back in January of 2022, and they left with a heavy heart again on Thursday. Bellevue East took a 64-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fremont. Bellevue East has struggled against Fremont recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Bellevue East's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kris Brown, who scored 16 points, and Ammi Williams who scored 18 points. That's the first time this season that Williams scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Kael Walker, who scored nine points.

Bellevue East struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.

Leading Fremont to victory were Maurice Bryant and Coriahnn Gallatin. Bryant scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Gallatin scored 18 points along with two steals. Gallatin has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. Harold Kennedy was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Bellevue East has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for Fremont, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bellevue East will take on Millard South at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Fremont, they will head out on the road to take on Grand Island at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Grand Island focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 last Friday.
