Basketball Game Preview: Clearfield Bison vs. Bedford Bisons

The Clearfield Bison will head out to challenge the Bedford Bisons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Clearfield has five straight wins, Bedford has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Clearfield will head into Wednesday's matchup hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 21-point drubbing they dealt Penns Valley Area on Wednesday. Clearfield blew past Penns Valley Area 61-40.

Ev Maines had an outrageously good game as he went 11 of 15 on his way to 30 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Parker Collins, who posted eight points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Bedford lost to Bishop McCort at home by a 74-55 margin on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Bisons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 564th, while the Crushers are ranked 166th).

Clearfield will have to contain Quincy Swaim as he made an impact in Bedford's last game. He put up 12 points and five assists. Aj Koontz was another key player, putting up four points and 12 boards.

Bedford's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Clearfield, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Clearfield came out on top in a nail-biter against Bedford in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, sneaking past 41-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clearfield since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
