Softball Recap: Union Academy Cardinals vs. Bethany Wolves

With a playoff game on the line, Union Academy rose to the challenge on Friday. They never let the Bethany Wolves onto the board and left with a 7-0 victory. Considering Union Academy has won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Avery Wilson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and only two hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Wilson has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in 12 consecutive pitching appearances. Wilson was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Taylor Surratt was incredible, going 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. Riley Griffin was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
