Hartford is a perfect 3-0 against Bangor since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Huskies will host the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Monday, Hartford was able to grind out a solid win over White Pigeon, taking the game 11-6.
15 must be Bangor's lucky number: they beat Lawrence with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Vikings' pitcher stepped up to hand the Tigers a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won eight contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Jaret McCoy made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has become a key player for Bangor: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one hit, but 6-11 otherwise. McCoy was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Julian Pullins was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Luke Remington was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Bangor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .679. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Hartford has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Bangor, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-11.
Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hartford has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .498. However, it's not like Bangor struggles in that department as they've averaged .453. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
