Volleyball Recap: Saugus Starts Season with Win Against Santa Barbara

Saugus had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Santa Barbara Dons. The Centurions haven't had any issues with the Dons recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Saugus walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the third set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 24-26, 25-14, 25-17.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Saugus to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emily Tran, who had ten digs and four aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Posey, who had 18 assists and seven digs.

They weren't the only good server: Saugus was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 16 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in October of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Santa Barbara lost, don't look at Paylin Marcillac. Despite the final result, she had 14 digs and four aces. Marcillac has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times she's played.

Coming up, Saugus will take on Highland at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Santa Barbara, they will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Mayfield at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
