Basketball Game Preview: Maxwell Wildcats vs. St. Patrick's Irish

Maxwell hasn't had much luck against St. Patrick recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Maxwell Wildcats will host the St. Patrick's Irish at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Maxwell is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They took a 59-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood].

Despite their defeat, Maxwell saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kole Jones, who posted 18 points, was perhaps the best of all. The dominant performance also gave Jones a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Jesse Reyes, who put up 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, St. Patrick's didn't have quite enough to beat Kearney Catholic on Tuesday and fell 47-45. The loss was the Irish's first of the season.

St. Patrick's loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-1. As for Maxwell, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
