Softball Recap: Peoria Lions vs. Peoria Notre Dame Irish
Peoria was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 11-0 walloping at the hands of the Peoria Notre Dame Irish. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Peoria of the 18-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.
For Peoria Notre Dame's part, Ava Fontana was incredible, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Leustek, who went 1-for-2 with a triple, a stolen base, and two RBI.
Peoria's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Peoria Notre Dame, their victory bumped their record up to 2-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Peoria will challenge Richwoods at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Peoria Notre Dame, they will head out on the road to take on Centennial at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
