Football Recap: Long Reach Takes a Loss

Long Reach extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 3-3. They lost 32-7 to the Atholton Raiders. The matchup marked the Lightning's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

As for Atholton, their record is now 4-2. Considering they have won three contests by more than 21 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Leading Atholton to victory were Tyler Bell and Darin Smith. Bell threw for 261 yards and three TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes, while Smith rushed for 175 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries. Smith really tore up the turf during one magnificent 81-yard run. 137 of Bell's passing yards were hauled in by Landon Lawall, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Long Reach wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 49-0 defeat against Oakland Mills on the 16th. As for Atholton, they have also already played their next matchup, a 37-28 victory against Howard on the 16th.
