Volleyball Recap: Vail Mountain Finds Home Court Redemption Against Lake County

There's no place like home for Vail Mountain, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against the Lake County Panthers by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. This was payback for the Rangers, who suffered a 2-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Vail Mountain had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-10, 25-16, 25-12.

Weston Phillips paced Vail Mountain's offense, picking up nine kills. Phillips also shared the team's lead in assists with Izzy Adochio: they picked up 11 each. Phillips was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Lake County's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Aries Tapia, who had 15 digs, and Mallory Negrete, who had five kills, five aces, and three digs.

The victory got Vail Mountain back to even at 3-3. As for Lake County, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Vail Mountain has already played their next game, a 3-1 defeat against Hayden on the 12th. As for Lake County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Middle Park on the 11th.
