Langston Hughes won the last time they faced Banneker and things went their way on Thursday too. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Trojans 2-1.

Langston Hughes had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-21, 15-10.

Zoey Pierre paced Langston Hughes' offense, picking up six kills. Pierre got some help from Chamarie Lisbon and her 16 assists. Lisbon was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Langston Hughes' win bumped their record up to 11-23. As for Banneker, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-14 record this season.

Langston Hughes will head out to take on Dutchtown at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Banneker does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
